Compressional and shear wave attenuations from walkway VSP and sonic data in an offshore Abu Dhabi oilfield

نویسندگان

چکیده

Seismic attenuation was estimated from compressional (P) and shear (S) waves carefully extracted three-component vertical seismic profiling (VSP) data. A high sensitivity of to fluid content noticed, which shows the advantage its use as a attribute for reservoir studies. Contrary most observations in fully saturated sandstones, magnitude P S wave studied carbonate zones is higher than one. This disagreement probably because flow models developed describe mechanisms sandstones are not valid rocks due their complex texture. Moreover, controlled by saturation pore fluids clay content. Furthermore, magnitudes obtained at sonic VSP frequencies same order, attenuations show similar variation both frequencies. indicates frequency-independent oilfield.

Prediction of shear and Compressional Wave Velocities from petrophysical data utilizing genetic algorithms technique: A case study in Hendijan and Abuzar fields located in Persian Gulf

Shear and Compressional Wave Velocities along with other Petrophysical Logs, are considered as upmost important data for Hydrocarbon reservoirs characterization. Shear Wave Velocity (Vs) in Well Logging is commonly measured by some sort of Dipole Logging Tools, which are able to acquire Shear Waves as well as Compressional Waves such as Sonic Scanner, DSI (Dipole Shear Sonic imager) by Schlumbe...

A unifying fractional wave equation for compressional and shear waves.

This study has been motivated by the observed difference in the range of the power-law attenuation exponent for compressional and shear waves. Usually compressional attenuation increases with frequency to a power between 1 and 2, while shear wave attenuation often is described with powers less than 1. Another motivation is the apparent lack of partial differential equations with desirable prope...

Compressional and shear wave properties of marine sediments: comparisons between theory and data.

According to a recently developed theory of wave propagation in marine sediments, the dispersion relationships for the phase speed and attenuation of the compressional and the shear wave depend on only three macroscopic physical variables: porosity, grain size, and depth in the sediment. The dispersion relations also involve three (real) parameters, assigned fixed values, representing microscop...

E-Commerce: Adoption, Acceptance, and Prototyping in Abu Dhabi

This paper specifies the critical factors that affect the adoption of E-Commerce in the United Arab Emirates, particularly in the emirate of Abu-Dhabi. The critical factors are studied from firms’ and consumers’ perceptions. The factors affecting firms’ decision of e-commerce adoption are classified to internal and external, which are then classified into several other factors. Similarly, the k...
